Areas of application for mesh partitions
In general, mesh partitions can fulfil various functions. As industrial walls, they separate areas in industrial halls and warehouses or on corresponding terrain. Here they fulfil the function of walls, but score points for their ease of assembly, their adaptability, their relatively low weight and also because they are transparent. Depending on the manufacturer, various different elements are available, including some polycarbonate elements for more representative places, but in any case doors and elements of different width and height.
Mesh partition walls are also used as protective walls for machines and robot systems. Here they must meet increased stability requirements in order to ensure safety for man and machine.
Crash tests are used to determine the stability of these systems. In order to comply with protection regulations, a minimum distance to the machine must be maintained, depending on the spacing of the grating bars, to prevent reaching through the grating bars. In this case, protective grids conforming to standards are required in accordance with the Machinery Directives 2006/42/EC, EN 953 and EN ISO 13857.
Depending on the type of system, a solution with safety relays, optical fences and secured barrier-free access is recommended. Cable ducts can be installed in the various systems, as can safety switches and different types of doors.
Example of the use of mesh partitions
If, for example, an area in the warehouse is to be securely cordoned off with the packaging system, but the warehouse is to be kept partially open for customers or the operators, a mesh partition wall in the modular system is the ideal solution. On the same corner struts and support struts, components with a safety grid that complies with the protection guidelines for machines can be used around the packaging system, and grid partitions with a larger strut spacing can be used to separate the internal area from the visitor area. The safety area around the packaging line is secured with a safety lock on the sliding door. The swing door to the public area is also secured with a safety lock. A dispensing counter with a pass-through allows for easy customer contact.
Conclusion
With mesh partitions, a universally applicable and individually adaptable system is available which, with a wide range of available modules, can fulfil various functions from fall protection grids and partitioning to standard-compliant machine protection grids.
